2 quartered broiling chickens
¼ cup BBQ seasoning spice
1 tablespoon seasoned salt
½ cup bottled chili sauce
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon liquid smoke
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons Mexican style chili powder
Sprinkle chicken quarters with a mixture of BBQ spice and seasoned salt. Rub into pieces. Grill, skin side up, on gas or charcoal grill, about nine inches from heat. Close hood and open vents on grill. Cook 20 minutes over medium coals, turn chicken, then continue turning every 10 minutes. Mix chili sauce and all other ingredients and brush this sauce over pieces the last 20 minutes of grilling time. Chicken quarters may be placed in shallow foil pan (on grill rack) for a portion of cooking time to prevent excessive browning.
Grill a total of 70 to 90 minutes, or until tender. -- Chicken should be cooked to internal temperature of 170 degrees. Yield 6 to 8 servings.
